Ancient Astrology Volume Two—Now available for pre-order

We are pleased to announce that Volume Two of Demetra George’s Ancient Astrology in Theory and Practice is now available for pre-order. Many of you have been anticipating the release of this volume, and we are very excited to say that we are in the very last stages of finalising the book for release. Assuming all goes to plan, we are aiming to have the volume in stock with our North American distributor this June/July. We will be sure to announce the exact release date as soon as we have it.

Ancient Astrology Volume Two, by Demetra George

What’s new in volume two?

Volume Two opens a lucid gate into the rich world of applied astrological wisdom. At 680 pages, it is substantially larger than Volume One, and following from the first volume, it is divided into four broad sections. The first section features a solid chapter devoted to each of the astrological houses, tracing the conceptual continuities as well as shifts in meaning through Hellenistic, Medieval, Renaissance, and Modern source texts. The second section details the dynamics of house assessment together with specific techniques for delineating planets in houses. The third section deals with the different methods for calculating and assessing the five rulers of the nativity, including the Master of the Nativity (Oikodespotēs) and the Lord of the Nativity (Kurios), together with related timelord procedures. Finally, the last section furnishes a 50-page glossary of terms (a veritable dictionary unto itself), annotated bibliographies of Hellenistic and Medieval source texts, and a subject index covering both volumes. As in Volume One, the work is illustrated with copious diagrams, tables, examples, and exercises to clarify the techniques. Like Volume One, it is destined to become a foundational resource for the study of traditional astrology.

The full Table of Contents have been provided below to whet your appetite.

  An important note on shipping

In preparation for this release, we are currently in the process of upgrading our distribution services so that orders can be fulfilled as swiftly as possible. Readers in North America will be the immediate beneficiaries of this upgrade, as our principal distribution centre is located in the United States. For now, all orders outside the United States will be processed as international deliveries, but we are also working on securing something closer to home for our European kindred. As we ourselves are based in the godforsaken Antipodes, we absolutely sympathise with readers from far-flung places, and will endeavour to provide appropriate options for everyone as soon as possible. As this is a work in progress, I trust you will bear with us.

The book will also be released to Amazon and related distribution networks in due course, but not immediately. It will be available exclusively through Rubedo upon release, and through extended retail networks sometime thereafter. We understand that, for various reasons, you may prefer to use the egregious beast that is Amazon, and we will be sure to announce when this option becomes available.
